Dropcam HD WiFi monitoring camera now shipping for $149
We’ve had the opportunity to spend time with an early version of the Dropcam HD WiFi monitoring camera prior to its CES unveiling, and now the company is finally ready to get the product out to the masses. Starting today, the bantam security camera is shipping from the outfit’s site for 9, with that tally netting you a USB-powered camera with automatic night vision, HD-quality video, two-way audio support, optional DVR-style recording (.95+ per month) and always-on access. As stated in our review, users can access a live stream of what it’s watching (or they’re watching, if using multiple cams) from any web browser, iPhone or Android-based device, and privacy advocates should know that all streams are “encrypted with bank-level security, and streamed through the cloud, not your computer, so it’s safe in case of any computer trouble or theft.” Head on past the break for the full spiel, or hit the source link to get your order in.

Ask Engadget: best quick-shutter camera for under $700?
“I’m about to become a new parent and my not-so-tech-savvy wife thinks we need a ridiculous DSLR to get good, quick pics of our new child. I argue there are plenty of cameras out there with fast shutter speeds that won’t cost us too much, but I don’t know what exactly to look for. I want to take quick pictures to capture those really cute shots that other cameras miss. What’s a good camera that I can get less for 0?”
Camera experts, baby owners, people who balance objects on your pets, what’s the camera you can rely on to catch those split-second moments of cuteness? Our thoughts lead us toward the Nikon J1′s motion snapshot, or the Sony NEX-C3, but perhaps someone out there knows the perfect baby-snapping camera? Dear friends, the floor — by which we mean the comments feed below — is yours.

This Is What It Looks Like When Your Camera Phone Vibrates [Image Cache]
Has gravity collapse upon itself, distorting the entire temporal realm and melting the whole world into pudding? No, this guy just got an email on his phone—and some serious vibration—while he was trying to snap a pic. More »
Samsung Vibrant 4G appears in leaked docs, touts 21Mbps HSPA+, front-facing camera
Samsung did say it’s ready to supply all US carriers with 4G phones, not just Verizon, and we may already be looking at one of those devices before us. Billed as a T-Mobile exclusive, the Vibrant 4G looks to be a gentle refresh of the current Vibrant handset, with the notable upgrades being the inclusion of 21Mbps-capable HSPA+ connectivity — to speed your mobile broadband up into T-Mobile’s definition of 4G speeds — and a front-facing camera paired to Qik video chat software. The onboard version of Android is 2.2 and internal specs seem to generally match the earlier-released namesake. Speaking of the original Vibrant, these leaked docs also show it’s sold over one million units in its time in the US and is the nation’s best-selling Galaxy S variant. Great, now can someone please leak it to Samsung that Android 2.3 is already out?
[Thanks, Brian]

Nintendo 3DS ships February 26 in Japan, US and Europe in March, auto-generates Mii with front-facing camera
Enough with the rumored prices and launch dates already, let’s get official. Nintendo just announced a February 26 ship date in Japan for ¥25,000 (about 8). It’ll then land in the US and Europe in March for an undisclosed amount. Launch colors are aqua blue or cosmo black.
Nintendo demonstrated the ability to take your picture using the 3DS’ front-facing camera and then automatically convert the image into a Mii — you can edit it too. You can even merge two photos into a single image if you choose. You can export images as QR code or as a file to a bundled 2GB SD card. Ninty also announced a special edition Super Mario DSi LL (no hardware changes) set to launch for ¥18,000 in Japan on October 28th. Nintendo again confirmed that a Wii Remote Plus is in development and will be announced at a date some time in the future.

Olympus Zuiko-equipped compact camera eyes-on: optical zoom, HDMI spotted

Olympus’ PR branch left us digging for details when announcing the outfit’s new Zuiko-equipped camera, a concept piece that’s actually on track for the real world in early 2011. It seems as if this, along with Fujifilm’s FinePix X100, is carving out a new niche in the compact space. It lacks the flexibility of Micro Four Thirds / mirrorless, but it packs a bigger quality punch than any other point-and-shoot on the market. At least with this guy, though, you’ll be getting an optical zoom. During our gaze session at Olympus’ Photokina booth, we spotted “optical zoom” labeling as well as a toggle switch for pulling the lens in and out, and we also found an HDMI output, video record button, hot shoe accessory port and a pop-up flash. Join us as we go round and round in the video after the break.

Samsung Pixon is Latest 8 Megapixel Camera Phone – Samsung M8800 Pixon
Samsung Pixon is Latest 8 Megapixel Camera Phone – Samsung M8800 Pixon
The mobile phones manufacturer Samsung has now joined the likes of Sony Ericsson and LG by launching the new Samsung Pixon 8 megapixel mobile phone in the UK.
This new high specification camera phone joins the already released Sony Ericsson C905 and LG Renoir in offering the very height of mobile phone camera lenses available on the UK mobile phones market.
This is a giant leap forward in mobile technology as up until these latest product launches the highest specification camera lens in a mobile phone in the UK was just 5 megapixels, this new breed of camera focussed phones will have even the professional photographer wondering why they are taking more than one device with them when leaving the house.
The M8800, referred to as the Samsung Pixon in some circles and the Samsung Bresson in others, is a remarkable piece of mobile technology. Not only does it offer an 8MP autofocus camera but it’s also a very sleek piece of kit. A 3.5G device, the Samsung M8800 Pixon is just 13.8mm thick and set to rival the likes of the LG Renoir and Sony C905 Cyber-shot phone.
The camera has been boosted with not just autofocus functionality but camera geotagging, auto panoramic shots, face detection (as well as smile and blink detection, what next?) and advanced shake reducution. There’s a secondary videocall camera, which lets face it was practically a dead cert and the video player support DivX and XviD playback. And when it comes to reviewing saved photo’s all you have to do is tilt the phone to go to the next picture.
A widely supportive music player, you also get the full benefits of a Surround Sound System and 200MB internal memory with additional optional expansion up to 8GB. The 3.2? touchscreen comes with a built-in accelerometer and the Samsung Pixon offers global roaming with quad band GSM support and tri band 3G with HSDPA, although no WiFi capability which is a real shame.
Other points to feature are that the Samsung Pixon comes with integrated GPS and AGPS functionality, FM radio with RDS and TV Output. Talktime is about 3.5 hours but on standby you should manage a substantial 290 hours. With the recent successes of the Samsung Tocco and Samsung i8510, it looks like its going to be a very good year for Samsung.
Although initially released on the O2 UK network it is expected that the Samsung Pixon will be launched on further operators in the very near future as well as on Pay As You Go and as a SIM free mobile phone.
The Samsung Pixon represents the very latest in mobile technology that the manufacturer has to offer, as more and more high specification features are bundled into their latest handsets it makes you wonder just how long it will be before consumers start to forget about standalone products such as digital cameras and MP3 players.
The latest Samsung M8800 Pixon is one of 3 new 8 megapixel camera phones to be released including the recent LG Renoir and Sony C905, for further details please refer to our online mobile phones shop.
How a Digital Photo Frame Compliments Your Digital Camera
How a Digital Photo Frame Compliments Your Digital Camera
A digital photo frame makes great additions to digital cameras. Digital cameras created a freedom in photography that didn’t exist with traditional film. With the ever increasing storage capacity of memory devices, most of us with a digital camera can eagerly take an endless number of digital pictures and not worry about running out of film or how costly it will be to get them all developed. Digital cameras make all of us snapshot crazy.
The negative to this of course is that most of us accumulate a tremendous amount of digital images. Go on a European vacation and you could come home with a couple hundred digital pictures. These usually get transferred onto a computer or laptop, where they stay forever and rarely get viewed. Sure we may print a couple (photo printers are also now very affordable) and put them in some traditional picture frames around the house, but the hundreds or thousands of others are stored away into oblivion.
That’s why digital frames are forecasted to be on such a steep growth trajectory. A digital photo frame allows you to load you digital pictures and display them in what looks like a traditional picture frame, but with an LCD display device instead. You can either easily transfer the memory card from your camera to the frame, or transfer photos from the camera to a memory card in the digital frame, and start displaying pictures. Some digital photo frames have internal memory as well (no memory card needs to be added) and you can download from your computer – lots of flexibility.
The main difference between a digital photo frame and a traditional photo frame is their dynamic nature. A digital photo frame can display many images in a slide show format. They also come with plenty of display mode features to define how many pictures to display, transitions, multiple pictures on the screen, and can also display videos and play audio as well. Digital frames are electronic devices that take picture frames to another level.
Digital photo frames are great for around the house or in an office, and also make great gifts, especially if you preload with pictures from your camera. Your gift recipient will open the frame and immediately start seeing pictures they recognize. In addition, as your digital photo collection grows, you can keep fresh pictures on your screen, or a friend or family member’s screen, so that you always display new pictures on the frame. Many digital frames now have wireless features that makes sending new pictures from your laptop to digital frame even simpler.
So if you use a digital camera (and who doesn’t these day), pay attention because a digital photo frame will likely be an accessory that makes sense for you. Its time to start displaying all those digital images you’ve taken, and a digital photo frame is a great way to do it.

Super Camera Cell Phone Samsung F300
Super Camera Cell Phone Samsung F300
Samsung introduced latest design cell phone Samsung F300. The F300’s design, when speaking about it as a phone, is nothing new, except for the shell’s dimensions and minor thickness. The very unique ratio between the display and the keypad is surely an eye-picker, but overall the handset looks like any other product. At the same time the opposite side is similar to a closed slider or Apple-branded players which is pretty much a fiction, since putting an iPod and Samsung F300 face to face, you won’t see a striking resemblance, but the feeling that they do share something won’t let you go.
Both images and text look bright and crisp here, no problems, but makes all the difference is the capacity the screen can hold only two text lines or two menu items at a time, even though the font resolution is great. So grading its functionality, we are ought to give it “low” when it comes to standard features like SMS, camera etc. And it would be a crucial and fatal drawback, if the Samsung F300 didn’t have another display measuring 2.1” diagonally on the opposite side in most cases you can switch to this secondary screen, for example when viewing short messages. No about, ergonomics-wise this proves to be somewhat troublesome, but it’s a kind of way-out, allowing you to have all features enabled on such tiny device.
Another point of interest here is that since there is no detachable battery in the Samsung F300, you won’t be able to reboot it manually should you stumble upon critical software bugs, however here we should give a credit to the developers for arming the handset with RESET button located on the right side. Above the screen one will find a camera lens, which would be taken as UMTS-support by many, while the camera itself would be dubbed as a tool for video calls. In fact Samsung F300’s a 2 Mega pix camera (no 3G support here) mounted this only because the interface for handling it is displayed on the other side, although nothing will stay on you way should you want to make a self-portrait.
Due to the fact this screen originates for the previous generation, its being put into a slim casing brings about certain difficulties should you push Samsung F300 a little you will see ripples spreading across the surface, but this is unlikely to damage the device or do something worse, so you might be able to turn a blind eye to it, after all.
The Samsung F300′s Working with various types of messages is implemented through separate submenus. Let us begin with short messages. The phone memory can hold up to 200 messages simultaneously; the handset supports EMS standard compatible with Nokia Smart Messaging. Please purchase on online www.phoneandbeyond.com
